The incident occurred in the Jakigoor rural district of Rask County as the vehicle was carrying the ballot boxes from a polling station. Reports show the terrorists were seeking to steal the ballot boxes. No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack. Iran’s interior ministry says it is investigating the matter and will be reporting on the attack with more details.
Iranians headed to the polls on Friday to choose their next president from the pool of four candidates: Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Masoud Pezeshkian, Saeed Jalili, and Mostafa Pourmohammadi.
